Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
Fans can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
