'People are afraid' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

There's little doubt why Arsenal have become many people's preferred choice to win the Premier League during this term.

Look at their performances against Fulham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those identical matches last season.

The Gunners have defeated all of them this time around, but lost 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race last season.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a primary factor why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title goal.

They lead the league for clean sheets (6), shots let in (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the finest in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their effectiveness from free kicks is highly documented, but rival sides still don't know how to stop the Gunners from these chances.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just fearful of them and it is great to see."

Championship Credentials

What is even more impressive about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they keep winning, their historic competitors aren't faring so well. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on manager Mikel Arteta at the start, having allocated around £250m on eight summer signings in quest of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far yielded results in remarkable manner, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and analysts have described Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and determination.
